Frequently Asked Questions

About Khal Gold

Who runs Khal Gold?

Khal Gold is the trading name of Khaled Erfan, a sole trader based in England. Our business address is Flat 8, Poppy Apartment, 351 High Road, Wembley, London HA9 6EU, United Kingdom. You can reach us at hello@khalgold.com or on 07415 159050.

Where are your bags made?

Khal Gold is a British business and we select and specify the range here in the UK, but we are a retailer rather than a workshop. Our bags are made by our partner workshops overseas and shipped to you directly from them. That is why delivery takes around 11 to 17 working days rather than a day or two, and it is why we never describe our products as made in Britain. What we stand behind is the specification on each product page — the hide, the finish, the hardware and the construction.

Orders & delivery

Do you offer free delivery?

Yes — free standard delivery on all UK orders, with no minimum spend.

How long does delivery take?

Orders are normally processed within 1 to 2 working days. After processing, standard UK delivery typically takes 10 to 15 working days, so please allow approximately 11 to 17 working days in total. You will receive a confirmation email when your order is dispatched, with tracking where it is available. If your order has not arrived within that window, email hello@khalgold.com with your order number and we will chase it.

Will I be charged import duty or tax on delivery?

No. The price you pay at checkout is the total price. Khal Gold covers any import duties and taxes, and you will never be asked for a further payment when your parcel arrives.

Do you deliver outside the UK?

Currently we deliver to mainland UK addresses only. International delivery is not yet available.

Returns & refunds

What is your returns policy?

You have 30 days from delivery to return an order, including if you simply change your mind. Items should be unused and returned in their original condition and packaging with all components. Contact us first at hello@khalgold.com with your order number and we will send return instructions. Full details are in our Refund Policy.

Who pays for return postage?

For change-of-mind returns, the cost of return postage is yours. If the item is faulty, damaged or not as described, we cover it.

What if my item arrives damaged or faulty?

Email us with photographs as soon as you can and we will arrange a replacement or refund. Your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are not limited by how quickly you report it — you have 30 days from delivery to reject a faulty item outright, and rights beyond that period as well. Telling us early just makes it quicker to sort out.

Materials & care

What is crazy horse leather?

Cowhide finished with a heavy wax driven into the hide rather than sprayed over the surface. Scratch it and the mark lightens and settles back in under a thumb; carry it for a year and the corners and handle go darker than the panels. Marking is the intended behaviour of the material, not a fault.

What is the difference between full-grain and top-grain?

Full-grain keeps the outermost surface of the hide intact, including its natural marks. Top-grain has had that surface lightly corrected for a more even finish. Both are the upper layer of the hide and both are a long way from bonded or split leather. Each product page states which one applies to that bag.

Are your bags waterproof?

No. Our oil-waxed canvas and waxed leather are water-resistant — rain beads on the surface and runs off, and a shower will not get through — but they are not sealed waterproof shells, and prolonged heavy rain or immersion will eventually get in. If you are carrying a laptop through a downpour, use a sleeve.

How do I look after a leather bag?

Wipe it with a dry, soft cloth. Treat it occasionally with a neutral leather conditioner and let it dry naturally, away from direct heat. Do not machine wash. Waxed canvas can be brushed clean and sponged with cold water only — no detergent — and re-waxed occasionally to restore its water resistance.

Choosing a bag

Will my laptop fit?

Every bag built for a laptop states the screen size it takes, on the product page and in the Specifications. The figures refer to typical machines of that size; if yours is unusually thick or has an unusual footprint, email us before ordering and we will check.

Where can I find dimensions and weight?

Where we have measured a bag, the dimensions and weight are on the product page. Where we have not yet measured it, we leave the field off rather than publish an estimate. If a measurement you need is missing, ask us and we will measure it.

Are your bags suitable as cabin luggage?

Cabin size limits differ between airlines and change without much notice, so we do not label bags as cabin-approved. Check the published dimensions of the bag against your airline’s current limits before you fly — and if the dimensions are not yet on the page, ask us and we will measure the bag for you.
